EAMONN ANDREWS is off to the United States at the close of the present football season - probably in May. The visit is now an annual event in Eamonn's programme. While in the States he will be on the look-out for any material which could be successfully adapted to British radio and television.

Last year Eamonn and his wife spent three months in America. This year, however, Mrs Andrews will remain behind to attend to the decoration of the family flat in London's West End.

Last time the flat was decorated Grainne Andrews was in hospital. She had never seen the flat, but with drawings provided by Eamonn she managed to arrange the decorations. The result, she tells me, was satisfactory. This time however, having lived in the flat for some time, Mrs Andrews "hopes to do better."

Eamonn, I feel sure, will welcome this break from radio and television. His What's My Line? and This Is Your Life will be temporarily rested. So will his popular Saturday Sports programmes on sound radio which even in the face of television opposition maintain their popularity.
