THIS IS YOUR LIFE – Simon Rouse, actor, was surprised by Michael Aspel while filming an episode of the ITV police drama series The Bill on location in London.

Simon, who was born in Bradford, first began acting with the National Youth Theatre while still at school. He later studied drama with the Rose Bruford College but cut short his studies to join the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He appeared regularly on television during the late 1970s and early 1980s, including roles in Doctor Who, The Practice, Albion Market and Bread. However, he got his big break in 1990 when he joined the ITV police drama series The Bill as DCI Meadows, a role which made him a household name.
