Roy KINNEAR (1934-1988)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Roy Kinnear, actor and comedian, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews - with the help of Willie Rushton and the former cast of That Was The Week That Was – as he left a rehearsal room in an unknown area of London.
Roy, who was born in Wigan but grew up in Edinburgh, began his performing career with a local dramatic society before enrolling at RADA at the age of 17. His studies were interrupted by his two years of national service with the Royal Artillery, but after graduating from RADA in 1955 he worked in repertory in Newquay and Nottingham.
Following a stint with Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop he became well known to television viewers on the BBC's satirical comedy programme That Was The Week That Was. His film appearances include Help! and The Three Musketeers and other television work include The Dick Emery Show.
