Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
SUGGS (1961-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Suggs, singer-songwriter and musician, was surprised by Michael Aspel - with the help of Noddy Holder and Toyah Willcox - while recording an edition of the television panel show A Question of Pop at BBC Television Centre.
Suggs was born Graham McPherson in Hastings but raised in Wales and North London. At the age of only 16, he became the lead singer of the North London Invaders, who, after renaming themselves Madness, went on to achieve fifteen Top 10 singles, including Baggy Trousers, It Must Be Love and the band's only UK number one, House of Fun, before splitting up in 1986.
Suggs moved on to managing new talent, including the band The Farm, before Madness reformed in the early 1990s. He also had a solo career, releasing two albums and several singles, and made regular television appearances, including Channel 4's karaoke game show Night Fever and the BBC panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
