THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Bob and Dolores Hope, husband and wife entertainers, were surprised by Michael Aspel at CBS Studios in Los Angeles, California, after being led to believe they were there to appear on a chat show.

Bob, who was born in London, has appeared in over 70 films, hosted the Academy Awards 19 times, appeared in many stage productions and television roles, and is the author of 14 books, in a career spanning more than 70 years. Known for his long involvement with the United Service Organisations, which entertain active-duty American military personnel, Bob completed 57 worldwide tours between 1941 and 1991.

Dolores, who was born in New York City, spent her early years working as a model and nightclub singer in New York. She married Bob in 1934 and, since the 1940s, has helped her husband on his overseas tours entertaining US troops.

Bob Hope was a subject of This Is Your Life on two occasions – previously surprised by Eamonn Andrews in November 1970 at Thames Television's Euston Road Studios.
