Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Danny BAKER (1957-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Danny Baker, journalist and comedy writer, was surprised by Michael Aspel while interviewing him on his chat show at the BBC Television Centre.
Danny, who was born in London, initially worked in a record store while writing for the music magazine Sniffin' Glue, which led to a job at the New Musical Express as a writer, reviewer, and interviewer. He moved into television in 1980 as a presenter and writer.
He worked on various programmes throughout the 1980s, including a series of documentaries on youth culture for London Weekend Television and as a reporter for the same channel's regional magazine programme, The Six O'Clock Show. Danny began his radio career with BBC GLR in 1989, then moved to the newly launched Radio 5 in 1990, and then to Radio 1 in 1993.
