Teddy WINN

THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Teddy Winn, retired RSPCA inspector, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews at the BBC Television Theatre, having been led to believe he was there to see a documentary film being made.
Teddy, who grew up in Beckenham, developed an early love of animals and began his working life on farms before becoming an inspector for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in 1922, first in Woolwich, then in Croydon, Bromley, and finally Eastbourne.
For 33 years until his retirement in 1955, Teddy dealt with over 60,000 cases, earning himself the Margaret Wheatley Cross, the equivalent of the Animal's Victoria Cross, the RSPCA Silver Medal and the National Canine Defence League Medal.
